Does your daughter love softball? Does she want to play at a more challenging and competitive level? Is she interested in developing the skills necessary to play for the school teams or even beyond? Is she interested in being part of a close knit team building relationships that will last a long time? If she is then we have a place for you! The Terror, a new 14U travel tournament team based in Niskayuna is forming for the 2012 season. We are looking for girls who love the game of softball and who want to bring their game to the next level. All positions are open and any player who is dedicated to learning, being the best teammate they can be and who want to have fun are encouraged to come out. Any player who is asked to join the team will be expected to commit to practicing once per week during the winter and to practicing and playing from April to the beginning of August. The Niskayuna Spirit 14U girls fast pitch softball team will be holding try outs for the 2012 season on Saturday September 10th. The team will play in the Hudson Mohawk league (12 games) and 3 to 4 tournaments (played on the weekends). The team will practice once a week during the winter and more frequently once the season approaches next June. Any player interested in playing on the Spirit roster must attend the try out. The roster will include a total of 12 players only. Indoor practice will begin in late fall followed by the participation in one or two winter tournaments as well as playing in the Hudson Mohawk travel league and in four or five invitational tournaments in the summer. Players who are asked to join the team are looking at making a committent to practices and games from November until the beginning of August. The Niskayuna Girls Softball League’s travel division offers players an opportunity to participate in a more competitive environment by playing in the Hudson Mohawk Travel League against other travel teams in our area. Hudson Mohawk is sanctioned by the American Softball Association and is governed by all ASA league and playing rules. The teams compete in 12 regular season games and in three to four local or out of town tournaments beginning the end of May and ending the beginning of August. Teams are selected via tryout at each age division. It is the goal of the travel division to help develop the interest, skills, passion, sportsmanship, team concept and overall love of the game in players for many years to come.
